July 2026 Keller Williams Commercial Committee Meeting Review – Lafayette Market Center

On the 3rd Wednesday of July, (and every month generally on the last Wednesday) I hosted our monthly Keller Williams Commercial and Local Development Committee meeting at the Lafayette Market Center. These meetings give local agents an opportunity to review commercial real estate activity, upcoming development, and the projects that may shape the Greater Lafayette market.

Here are a few of the main topics we covered:

Recent Area Plan Commission Activity

We reviewed development activity from May and June, including new residential subdivisions, rezoning requests, and mixed-use projects throughout Tippecanoe County.

West Lafayette Downtown Plan Expansion

The Oakwood Village area was added to the West Lafayette Downtown Plan study area. The expansion provides additional guidance for future housing, mixed-use development, redevelopment, and transportation improvements near Purdue and downtown West Lafayette.

Healthcare and Childcare Growth

The group discussed new healthcare projects in West Lafayette, along with plans for additional childcare facilities. Both are important as the community continues to grow and local employers work to attract and retain employees.

Lafayette Theater Improvements

We reviewed planned improvements to the historic Lafayette Theater and what the project could mean for downtown activity, entertainment, and surrounding businesses.

Montoya Mixed-Use Development

The Montoya development received final approval and is expected to include commercial space along with residential units. Projects like this continue the trend toward combining housing and commercial uses in the same development.

Growth in Southern Tippecanoe County

New subdivisions and continued residential development south of Lafayette are creating additional demand for retail, services, restaurants, and other commercial uses.

SK hynix Update

We also reviewed the latest information surrounding the SK hynix project and its potential long-term impact on employment, housing, infrastructure, and commercial development throughout the region.

The overall takeaway from the meeting was simple: growth continues across Greater Lafayette, but the opportunities will vary depending on the location and type of property.

These monthly discussions help us stay informed and better understand how local development decisions may affect property owners, investors, businesses, and the surrounding community.
